W BEAM UDL CALCULATOR

W Beam UDL Calculator

The W Beam UDL Calculator is used to estimate the uniformly distributed load capacity of wide flange (W) beams based on section properties, material grade, beam length, and design code. It helps in evaluating structural performance under load conditions.

This calculator is useful for engineers and designers to quickly determine safe load capacity of beams. It reduces manual calculations and ensures accurate and efficient structural design.

Formula

Moment Capacity (M) = (Zx × fy) / Ω
UDL (w) = (8 × M) / L²
Final UDL = w × (Percentage / 100)

How to Use

Step 1: Select the W Profile (e.g., W8X10), which defines section properties like section modulus (Zx).

Step 2: Choose the Design Code (ASD or LRFD).

Step 3: Select the Material Grade (e.g., A36) to define yield strength (fy).

Step 4: Enter the Beam Length in feet and inches.

Step 5: Enter the Percentage of UDL (e.g., 100 for full load).

Step 6: Click the Calculate button to get the final UDL value.

Step 7: Click the Reset button to clear all inputs.
